2008 Enrolments for Al-Farooq YLP Now OPEN: Mercy Mission is now taking enrolments for the next intake of the Young Leaders Program, for class commencement in August 2008 insha-Allah. Those brothers and sisters that are aged between 18 - 22 and/or are 1st - 3rd year university students, and are motivated, committed, and determined to improve themselves and the community, are encouraged to apply.
o Please click here to complete an online application form. Short-listed applicants will be contacted, and will be required to undergo a formal interview on July 5.

The Guardians Quran Tahfeedh Program:
o New Classes for southeastern Melbourne have commenced: Classes in Pronunciation, Reading, Tajweed, and Memorisation, are now being offered across two sites in the southeastern region.
o Guardians coming to eastern region of Melbourne in July 2008: Due to the success of the Guardians Program and growing demand, Mercy Mission has brought forward the commencement of classes in the eastern region of Melbourne to July 14 2008. The official launch will be on Saturday June 21 insha-Allah. Continue checking the website for further details.
o Quran Instructors required: We are seeking highly motivated and appropriately skilled Quran Instructors to teach Arabic Pronunciation; Quranic Reading; Tajweed; and Memorisation in the southeastern and eastern regions of Melbourne.

Second Daar Aasya Information Night: The second next Community Information Session in Melbourne was held at Anglicare on Saturday May 24. A number of interested people attended from a wide cross section of the Muslim community. Daar Aasya Training - Looking After Muslim Children: Given the large number of Muslim children currently being cared for by non-Muslim families, it is important that they are provided with information that will assist them to appropriately look after the Muslim children in their care. The first Looking After Muslim Children Training Session was conducted for non-Muslim carers and Anglicare staff on May 26. Further training sessions will soon be scheduled insha-Allah.

Exciting AlKauthar Courses Scheduled for June:
o AlKauthar will be re-running one its most popular ever courses, the "Mark of a Jurist 101 – The Rules of Fiqh", which is the foundation of the AlKauthar curriculum. This is a MUST DO course for all serious students of knowledge. Sydney June 14 & 15 insha-Allah. Enrol via www.alkauthar.org

Saving Water at our Mosques: Following the successful application for water saving grants for Heidelberg and Preston Mosques, work to upgrade the Heidelberg Mosque facilities has been completed. The grant money for Preston Mosque will be used to help fund the major upgrade due to commence soon. Mercy Mission is engaging with a number of mosques in the city and western regions of Melbourne about opportunities to access grants to fund water saving initiatives. |
